Welcome to the web site of GAPS the local Ipswich Angling Society

Welcome
Our society is heavily involved in the preservation and conservation of the fisheries in and around the Gipping Valley area. We welcome all anglers to our fisheries, and wish you the best of luck with your angling on our club waters.

About Us
GAPS was established in 1868 and are the product of two local clubs joining ranks early in the twentieth century. We now maintain an ongoing stocking policy for our still waters and work with the Environment Agency to keep the river Gipping in good condition.

We provide fishing for all different types of coarse fishing at well maintained fisheries in pleasant surroundings.

Members are encouraged to attend monthly meetings and share their views on how the society is run. These meetings are held at the Royal British Legion club, Bramford 20:00 on the first Monday of each month (not bank holidays).

Aims of the Society
Our Aim is Provide, Acquire and Protect fishing for all Members of the Society and people within the areas of Ipswich and the surrounding districts. To Protect and Conserve Wildlife in connection with Rivers and Lakes. To encourage all members and the General Public to do likewise. To offer help and advice where it is possible to all Angling Clubs, Associations, Landowners and Riparian Owners in Suffolk and East Anglia.

Membership
The club has an open policy of membership, encouraging existing members to rejoin, and welcoming new members. Memberships rates and a postal application can be downloaded from the downloads page.

Work parties are vital in keeping our fisheries in top condition. Work carried out during work parties also saves the club money which can be spent on stock fish. For more information please visit our Working Parties page.

Match Calendar
A comprehensive match calendar can be downloaded which features matches on the clubs own waters and also a selection of matches on guest waters. Please contact the Match Secretary to book a place on one of the matches.
