Notes from the AGM 2025-26

AGM update

Following th AGM held on the 7th April 2025 there are a few changes which members should be aware of.

The minutes of the EGM held earlier this year were read and approved.
Last years AGM were also read and approved.

The committee members up for ellection were
Les Hart, Nick Clarke, Gary Marjoram, & Rob Denny. All were returned and the committee remains the same as we have had for the last 3 years.

The President (Peter Pollard) , Chairman(Gordon Banks) , Vice Chairman (Andrew Winfield) , & Secretary (Les Hart) were all returned to office so again remain the same.

The committee proposed an small increase in subscriptions for the coming season. This was £10 for adults, £5 for OAP and disabled members, and raised the intermediate inline with the OAP and disabled members. Juniors, and river tickets were not raised.
The new member levy of £10 (for a new or returning member) was again agreed. This is a one off payment as long as membership remains in place.

There were 4 proposals from members, of which 2 were voted in.
These are
1) To allow night fishing on the small lake at Alderson lake complex.
This will take place once the committee have agreed which pegs and the number of pegs this will be allowed on. It will remain as currently is, until the committee have met, after which time it will be circulated to the members.

2)Rather than try and reword the second proposal or write this again I have copied the original proposal in full. This is allowed from this time going forward.

I would like to propose the use of braided mainlines to be allowed on Causeway lake with the stipulation that it can only be used in conjunction with a helicopter/Rotary lead setup with a minimum of 50cm of rig tubing, lead core/lead free, fluorocarbon leaders to protect the fish flank.
The use of braided mainlines on Causeway lake helps with less cut offs, more control of the fish when fishing close to weed beds, which it turn helps moving the fish away easier and stops them boring more into the beds which in turn means less cut offs.
When fishing at distance with mono on the take the fish can take line even if the reel is locked up due to the stretch of mono giving the fish more option to bed itself deep into the weed or snag but with braid this is less likely to happen due to zero stretch allowing the anglers more time in the night and inturn the fish is not going bed itself into weed or snags which is then likely to be cut off and then we have a fish trailing line or worse tethered up.
